Remember Paul Newman’s Porsche I found in a shed in north Georgia that did not sell at Mecum Indy? If not, hear the story here. It resurfaced, and the update is on this week’s podcast. Sneak peak, it’s made its way to California (no surprise), in a significant collection (no surprise) and it will be on a racetrack sometime soon (surprise?). Missed a week? Then check out my most recent podcasts: · 021: Update on Paul Newman’s Porsche and a lawsuit-free Ford GT! · 020: A Shelby GT 500, VW Bus, 328 Ferrari GTS, Chevy K5 and a Vette! · 019: My First Experience as a Concours Judge · 018: Mecum TV Commentator John Kraman shares his Automotive Passion! A legendary local cruise-in spot is shutting down and all of the cars will be auctioned off soon. The Taj Garage in Dayton, Ohio has been known for rare Porsches and I reviewed my time there on this week’s podcast. It was the first time I saw a Porsche RS, Carrera Speedster, Carrera GT and a 356 once owned by Eva Peron. More coming soon… Finally! Barrett Jackson has a lawsuit-free 2017 Ford GT and it’s coming up for sale. This is a Le Mans Heritage Edition and it has never been driven with only 20 miles showing…what a shame! This is an obvious flip to make money and goes against Ford’s application process to own one. I wonder if they will blacklist the buyer from future sales? I know a few folks who applied for ownership, looking at you Matt and Rick, but they were declined even though they would have driven the heck out of it! The Porsche Club of America created a resource to capture all of the paint colors in a new website called Rennbow. Get it? Rainbow?:) A few colors that jumped out to me included Mamba Green Metallic, Riviera Blue, Amaranth Violet, Rose Red and LE Creamsicle. Now if only they would make a PTS filter? Porsche Panorama’s very own Rob Sass was the driving force behind this project. Learn more about him and how this project came to fruition on Mark Green’s Car’s Yeah podcast. Last week, I talked about my passion for cars and the Auto Sausage podcast on JoepeP’s Every Car Has A Story radio show. Be sure to listen in: FB GROUP PAGE, YouTube, Twitter. It was a lot of fun and I hope to be on it again in the future. Safari Porsche are a big deal right now but this is the first Safari Lamborghini I’ve seen! It’s called the Sterrato, which is "dirt" in Italian…makes sense. What have I been saying on my podcast for the last few weeks? That there are big changes happening in the collector car market right now. Vintage SUVs are up hard, Muscle Cars are trending down, Porsches have peaked and perfect, low mileage Asian cars from the 1990s are selling for crazy money. Hagerty confirms this trend and mentions 25 cars losing steam including C2 & C3 Corvettes, Porsche 930s, Barracudas and Thunderbirds...even a few Mercedes:O. Barrett Jackson’s Northeast Auction highlighted what is selling. Seven of the Top 10 cars were built after 1996! And guess what? Another Supra sold for stupid money… The remaining three were resto-mods including a crazy Ford Bronco, a Shelby Eleanor Tribute (am I the only one tired of these?) and an impressively brown 1954 Buick Special...even the driveshaft was brown! Want more info on what you should buy that costs under $30k? Then check this out. Got a little more dough? Then go here...my 996 made this list and was way under $30k. To quote the article, the 996 “is still a serious bargain for a fantastic-to-drive sports car.” Check out my Instagram feed to see pics from where I’ve been lately. This includes the Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance, National Fairlane Show and a few other cool places. Have a safe and great 4th of July tonight! Talk to you next week! Comments are closed.
